Proposed Local Programs 2008-09
LOCAL ISSUE FORUMS:
The League will continue our series of Saturday morning Coffee Hours and informational meetings on topics of local interest, including issues facing the town, and opportunities to meet and converse with local officials and elected state representatives, in an effort to encourage greater and more informed participation in the democratic process on the part of town residents.
PESTICIDE USE:
We will continue to educate voters on the hazards of pesticide use on public and private land, and seek to influence the town to curtail pesticide use where feasible.
VOTER SERVICES:
The League will sponsor voter registration drives as appropriate to increase the voter rolls and to encourage registered voters to exercise their right to vote in an informed way. We will conduct Candidates' and Issues Nights before local and state elections and offer rides to the polls for people in need of transportation.
